Our History

Founded in 1993, ARCOS has grown to be the leading Software as a Service (SaaS) solution in North America enabling utilities to respond, restore and report in real-time for day-to-day events and emergencies. ARCOS’ Resource Management solution was developed to help utilities restore power faster for communities through automated crew call out and crew management.

In 2016, ARCOS acquired SAMsix, a leader in utility mobile and GIS software for  the past 15 years. The acquisition combined ARCOS’ industry leading abilities to quickly activate and manage personnel and equipment with SAMsix’s mobile damage assessment and crew location services. The integrated resource management solution helps utilities to more quickly and accurately forecast estimated time of restoration (ETR), provides situational awareness into operations during an event and ultimately helps to improve service restoration and reliability in addition to reducing costs.

In 2017, ARCOS acquired the utility services division of Macrosoft, including their Resources on-Demand software. The acquired division brought extensive capabilities to ARCOS for managing large and small events on a daily basis. Resources on-Demand software specifically added the ability to track and support logistics requests during large-scale restoration events – greatly increasing the the efficiency with which crews are linked with equipment, lodging and other logistics for daily work and large-scale restoration events, especially when working in tandem with ARCOS Crew Manager solution.

In 2018, ARCOS acquired RosterApps from Sciengistics. RosterApps enables airlines to simplify and streamline their workforce scheduling through a 100% web based solution. From assigning schedules, trading shifts to time off and absence management, the RosterApps solution expands ARCOS capabilities to manage resources through automation while enabling increased efficiency and elimination of paper systems and manual scheduling.

The top 25 largest electric and gas utilities in North America rely on ARCOS for damage assessment, location services, automation of emergency event management including complex crew call out and crew scheduling as well as insightful reporting. These top utilities also use ARCOS resource management solutions to communicate with emergency responders, regulators, media and their entire staff for important updates during an event.
